The floods of November 2009 were the highest in living memory, perhaps even since the ice age and certainly since Brighton and Hove Albion played at Wembley (1991 play-off final Vs. Notts County)

In contrast to the Nov. 2009 floods, just 9 months later, the river was seen at the lowest anyone in the village can recall. These were taken on Sept. 3rd 2010
